During the visit, various sessions focusing on the academic content related with the master’s topics were held, and experiences related with the management of the master’s program were shared. Specific issues involved the subjects of Migration and refugees between the areas of Europe and South-Mediterranean Countries & Gender Equality and Human Rights. Furthermore, a joint session was organized along with “Casa Mediterraneo”, a public consortium led by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose main aim is to foster mutual knowledge and bring Spain and the other Mediterranean countries closer together on different areas such as culture, economy, climate change, gender equality, higher education or scientific and technological innovation. Last but not least, some interesting online training methodologies and the Moodle platform were presented, followed by two separate sessions, one that debated some of the more innovative teaching methodologies and their potential for application in DEMOS, and another one that focused on internationalization and working with a diverse student population.
This training focused on the rationale, strategies and processes of integrating an internship component into master programmes. The first part of the training was a recorded webinar (available on the Demos learning platform), in which Dr. Femke van Noorloos, shared the experiences of the internship element of the Master in International Development Studies programme at Utrecht University.
Objective of the webinar can be summarized in the following:
- To learn about and discuss the rationale, strategies and processes of integrating an internship component into the Demos master programme.
- To learn about and/or reflect on the opportunities and challenges of implementing an internship programme.
- To start a discussion about designing a (linked) internship module for the Demos master programmes in the six partner universities.
In the following months, a study visit is planned with the aim to offer each partner the opportunity to get in contact with international consortia, to be exposed to different perspectives and gain new insights into their subjects. These actions will be carried out with a view to inspire new academic publications.
As part of their dissemination activities the project partners have published their 2nd Newsletter were they describe their achievements so far! If you want to learn more about the DEMOS Project, click here
