University Moulay Ismail, founded in 1989, is one of the public multidisciplinary higher education and research institutions in Morocco with around 63.000 students, 910 academics and researchers and 606 staff. It has 9 Faculties & schools and 223 Research Units located in 3 towns (Meknes, Errachidia, Khenifra). In recent years, UMI has been involved in several projects, namely bilateral and institutional cooperation and Erasmus+ (over 190 cooperation agreements, 25 European programs of mobility). In 2017, UMI has been appointed coordinator of the MOUNAF project under the Intra-africa academic mobility scheme, aiming to internationalize and harmonize Master and PhD curricula between African partners. The University strategy sets core values and principles to promote a flexible and creative learning environment for all students, by developing partnerships at local, regional, national and international level to provide attractive and relevant programs. UMI builds on current initiatives to suggest a better framework for evaluation and recognition of learning and competencies. UMI is also conscientious about its role in promoting participative democracy and human rights. Three related agreements have been signed at national and international level with the National Council of Human Rights, with the Moroccan Organisation of Human Rights and also with the Institute of Human Rights in Geneva (Switzerland). Furthermore, a Master on Security and Human Rights is offered in Arabic language at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences.
